About

Thanks for visiting!

I live outside of Athens, GA and freelance in the Athens and Atlanta area. I left my position as the director of photography/video at the Austin American-Statesman in 2022. My visual journalism career has spanned 30 years. Beginning as a staff photographer in Binghamton, NY, I was a sports photo editor/photographer at USA Today before landing in Austin, TX. I wrote travel or feature stories for the paper as time permitted for the paper.

Starting a new chapter in Georgia has been rewarding as I get to know the community. It’s wonderful to be out and about again instead of editing from inside a sterile office. I am exited to be so close to the University of Georgia to cover their sports and student life.

I never imagined that I would be a photojournalist/photo editor for over thirty years. Working with photography is an outlet for my artistic side that provides instant gratification. As an editor, I missed being out in the community meeting people and learning from them. I love the opportunity to work with families, documenting their children growing up, making holiday photos and anything else they feel is a milestone for the family. It is so amazing watching the children of my clients grow up. I feel like a proud auntie when they graduate or get married.

While I have been an artist of one sort or another all my life, I have been in search of the medium that speaks to me and lets me express my optimistic nature with color and texture. Mosaic art is the answer for me. I hope to be creating long after I retire from journalism for my second career.
